PROJECT BRIEF
When the renowned mega-influencer and make-up virtuoso Mitchell Halliday (popularly known as Mmmmitchell in the social scene) approached us for the exclusive launch of his brand, Made By Mitchell, in Boots stores, we understood the need for a captivating campaign that would showcase his dazzling, transformative products and stunning artistry.
Deliver a memorable, enjoyable brand launch in Boots targeting Gen Z. Drive purchases aiming for a sales uplift of 250%. Enhance social media engagement, aiming for over five million impressions.
MY CREATIVE IMPACT
concept, shopper journey, interaction points, gamification, look and feel and call to actions
Every creative decision on this project started with me. My goal was simple, to make it so visually alive that stopping to take a picture felt involuntary. So I pitched the laundromat | a space where something fresh is always buzzing and colours are always popping. Rather than stacking multiple smaller machines and dilute the impact, I pushed for one giant build. Big machine, big branding, nothing competing with it.
Customers met Mitchell in his world; getting selfies, autographs and honest beauty advice that only he gives. They moved through the space trying products on their skin, spinning the giant washing machine for a chance to win MBM samples, and pausing at every corner because they discovered something new.

INSIGHT AND STRATEGY
ONLINE
Social media posts with teaser content generally have a 50% higher engagement rate than regular promotional posts. We knew the launch needed to build anticipation before a single product hit a shelf.
OFFLINE
Events incorporating a teasing strategy in their marketing campaigns often report a 15-25% increase in attendance compared to similar events without such strategies. The in-store experience was built around one idea that everything here is Fresh for you.
RESULTS
Interactions between celebrities and fans on social media can significantly influence fans' behaviour and establish stronger psychological relationships. This suggests that meet-and-greets, which offer even more direct interaction, have a powerful effect on brand affinity.
SOCIAL STUNT
We got Mitchell himself; masked and unrecognisable to graffiti the windows of Boots Battersea
We delivered diverse concepts ranging from: an AR Instagram filter, oversized inflatables, AR animations of a newspaper landing on store windows to tease the brand arrival. After rounds of discussion, we landed on something more powerful: reality. We got Mitchell himself; masked, unrecognisable to graffiti the windows of Boots Battersea. We captured every intrigued passerby, every double-take, every moment of confusion and curiosity. That footage launched across social as a teaser and became one of Boots' most watched brand launch moments.
It was the proof that the strategy had worked, that curiosity had converted into commitment before a single product was picked up. Customers who had watched the graffiti videos online, now had a reason to queue outside Boots before the doors even opened.
PRODUCTION - INFORMED PERSPECTIVE
BUILD
The 2x2 metre space felt completely and unapologetically Mitchell. MBM’s world is bold and inclusive, so we led with an unmissable 1m x 1m washing machine. Fabricated faux packaging with Fresh for you messaging, branded mirrors and overflowing pink foam.
IMPACT
The laundromat world I had conceptualised became the backdrop for a consumer journey that felt more like a cultural event than a shop visit. Customers were buzzing with excitement, learning new beauty hacks and thriving in an environment which is experience led and beauty first.
SUSTAINABILITY
The build was designed to travel. Every element of the 2x2 metre footprint was fully modular, rearrangeable and adaptable to fit six different store formats across six weekends without rebuilding from scratch. Every piece of the kit had stand alone impact, giving us a spatial selection advantage for stores with smaller footprint.
